WEEKLY NEWS 17!!

39 Migrants drowned after boat capsizes in Turkey.

39 migrants travelling from Turkey to Greece have died including several children as they try to seek asylum. BBC news reported that the life guard in Turkey managed to save 60 people but they expect the death tole to rise when they begin to check the boat.
BBC news also reported some statistics saying that thousands make a dangerous journey trying to seek asylum in other countries and that 244 people had died so far this year.

The reason why this was one of BBC news biggest stories is because it is a big issue that people are risking their lives to escape their old ones. The problem is that people are becoming so desperate that they will do anything. This is an issue for other countries because even though they have to make the borders tight because there is only so much space but they don't want people getting killed trying to get into the country.
In my opinion I think that it is important to spread news like this because it shows how bad it is in other countries and how the leaders of countries need to try an improve the situation.

WEEKLY NEWS 16!!

Canadian Shootings.

BBC news reported about the school shooting in Canada that killed 4 people and several people were also injured. The shooter was a young male that shot and killed two of his siblings before going to the school.

BBC news also outlined the rules that people must follow in order to get a fire arm or ammunition.
The first one being that the person buying the gun must have a license. The second being that some guns are illegal to buy and use. The issue raised in the news report is that no matter how many precautions countries take in order to stop gun crimes, there is always a risk of it happening. This means that no one is entirely safe.

I think it is important to report about the school shootings that take place, because it keeps everyone aware that having a gun doesn't mean you are safe and that there is always a chance of events like this happening. Even in countries that don't have a high gun crime rate still can be affected because it is so easy to get access to a gun in some countries.

POSTER AND DVD COVER!!

This is the rough plan/idea of what my poster will look like. I used the best picture that I took and used it for my poster. because I have looked at other poster for my research I liked the idea of the Sin City poster where they isolate some of the colours. In this case i decided to make the background black and white but keep the main character in colour. This makes her stand out from the page, but the black and white background follows some of the conventions of a thriller as it is dark and gloomy. The title of the film is the same colour as the hair which shows a clear link to the audience. To make the poster more realistic I added the reviews and logos at the top as it is what I have seen in other posters. whilst making the poster i had allot of negative space so I decided to add in a quote/caption that relates to the film.
For my DVD cover I wanted to keep it very simple. I decided to play on the title by making the colour of the font and the tree blonde. This stands out from the black background. The reason why the main focus of the DVD cover is the tree is because the movie is set in the woods and it is bases around a blonde girl. The design gives some clues to the audience but doesn't reveal enough, which attracts them more. Underneath the title I put the names of the cast as that is what is normally on a DVD cover. Although this is not quite finished yet, I still like the simplicity of the design.

Storyboard- Coursework- Blonde.

The film opens with a black screen. During this scene there will be a voice over of the police report about Josey being missing. The scene will then cut to Kristen.

Kristen (the protagonist) will be shown making sandwiches. She is in a rush so she throws the sandwiches together and making a mess. This will be a mid shot. The sounds in the background will be the kettle boiling and the noise she makes making the sandwiches.
It will cut back to Kristen feeding her cat. Again she is in a rush. She throws the food in to the bowl and quickly strokes the cat. This will also use a mid shot and a close up to show the audience who the protagonist is. The sounds will be the her scrapping out the tin (diegetic sounds).
It will cut back the protagonist aggressively throwing the food that she has made into the bag along with rope and duct tape. This will be a combination of P.O.V shots and mid shots. Sounds will be diegetic, so the sounds of her throwing the items in the bag.

Cuts back to Kristen running to the door with her bag over her shoulder. She slams the door behind her. Sounds will be the loud noise of the door slamming shut. This will be a long shot. As the door shuts it will cut to the next shot.

In this scene the protagonist walks slowly up to a small shelter in the woods where the missing girl Josey is. Kristen slowly walks up and kneels down next to her. Josey backs away and Kristen signals her to be quiet. Kristen then opens her bag, pulls out the duct tape and sticks it over Josey's face. Kristen smiles.
This will be a combination of long shots, close ups, over the shoulder and mid shots.
The sounds will include the wind picking up and the leaves rustling.
The scene cuts to black.
Then the voice over of the police report comes on again but announcing that Josey's body has been found.
Then the title fades onto screen followed by the credits.

Headhunters and Welcome to the Punch.

Headhunters and Welcome to the Punch.

Headhunters is based around a business man/ art thief who goes on the run from the law and a man who is trying to kill him.

Director: Morten Tyldum
Writer: Ulf Ryberg
Cast: Aksel Hennie, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
The genre of this film is a Crime Thriller with main themes of romance and betrayal. In Headhunters you could argue that it has themes of comedy as the film at some points does not take it self seriously. For example when the police car s run off the road, down a cliff, the main protagonist survives as he is seated next to two large police officers who take the impact. Although the film follows a serious event, there is still evidence of comedy.
A micro-feature that is important in this film is performance. At the beginning of the film, the main protagonist (Roger) is shown to be a successful business man who has the big house and the dream girl friend. As the film goes on, he starts to lose everything he has. For example at one part of the film he has to shave all his hair off. In the film this symbolises that he has gotten to the point where he has to give up everything in order to survive. Performance is important as the audience sees the down fall of Roger which makes them feel sympathetic towards him. If we didn't see the downfall (performance) then the audience wouldn't feel sympathetic towards him meaning that the audience won't care if Roger succeeds or not.

The film Welcome to the Punch is about a police officer who is hunting down a deadly criminal in order to get revenge.
Director: Eran Creevy.
Writer: Eran Creevy.
Cast: James McAvoy and Mark Strong
The genre of this film is also a crime thriller with themes of revenge, betrayal and determination. This film has similar themes to Headhunters except this film takes it self very seriously. This film is full of suspense which means it has to take itself seriously in order to make the audience feel on edge.
An important micro-feature in this film is cinematography. Through out the film there are a variety of different camera shots and angles in order to show the different events within the film. For example, in the opening scene it shows a sequence of different shot of the group of people committing a robbery. Cinematography is important because it is the aesthetics of the film. It is what grabs the audience attention. Welcome to the pPunch does an amazing job of making the film look really good. This is what makes the film more exciting for the audience as everything is planned to please the audience.

In both these films they have the same theme of betrayal. In Headhunters, the main character, Roger doesn't feel as if he can trust any one. He feels as if his girlfriend is apart of the whole plan and also that his friend wanted to kill him to. In Welcome to the Punch, the main character, Max is betrayed by the police force he works for as he is blamed for murder and some of the police officers go rogue. In this film they both use the the theme betrayal to create suspense as it also makes it hard for the audience to trust anyone in the film so they too are uncertain about what could happen.
The differences in the two films is that the film follows the story from a different point of view. In Headhunters, the story follows the victim and how they ended up in the situation whereas in Welcome to the punch they follow the story of a police officer trying to solve the situation. This difference has a different affect on the audience as following the victim makes it more worrying for the audience as they are also unaware of what is going to happen and why its happening. Whereas following the police officers perspective means that the audience also find out more as the film goes on because they are apart of the investigation.
